Section 2 - Grant Boundary Adjustment

Now that you feel confident with the material in Section 1 of this lesson, nonriparian or broken boundary adjustments, we'll expand this further to include grant boundaries or grant line boundaries. Our objective in this section is to understand the techniques used to proportionately resurvey these areas.

In many states there are irregular grants and reservation boundaries that were established prior to the extension of the public lands subdivisional surveys. The township and section lines, if they intersect at such areas, then became closing lines and are useful in reestablishing any lost corners surrounding the grant area.
